INQ's Northern Day | 2022 edition
Note that the date of INQ's Northern Day has been advanced to May 10 and we are excited to invite you to join us at Musée de la civilisation de Québec to participate.
On the scientific program for this event, a round table on the sustainable health of indigenous and northern populations, enlightening discussions on caribou management and conservation, and the return to the stage of our science popularization contest My Northern Project .

Round Table Discussions
1) Sustainable Health of Indigenous and Northern Populations INQ in collaboration with the RISUQ
We will investigate Indigenous culture, including food, in relation to sustainable health and well-being to better understand the issues and challenges associated with these themes. Education and knowledge transmission will also be among the themes addressed in this panel.

● Mélanie Lemire, Professor in the Department of Social Medicine at Université Laval and co-director of the INQ's health axis
● Cathy Vaillancourt, Professor at INRS, Director of RISUQ and co-director of the INQ's Health axis
2) What is the future for Caribou?
Panelists will present a biological portrait of the three ecotypes of caribou present in Quebec; highlight the conservation issues that concern caribou and the practices put in place at the national level to preserve them; provide an analytical review of the experiences of co-management of the caribou in Canada; and take a behind the scenes look at the historic agreement between the Innu and Cree nations on the hunting of caribou and the singularity of the relationship between the Innu culture and the caribou
